Based around Glasgow, Scotland, we are a group of like-minded individuals who enjoy good food, good company and the traditions of Scotland.
Members of the group regularly met at Burns Suppers, whisky tastings and other social occasions and felt there was value in meeting at least once a year to partake in our interests and at the same time raise funds for charity.
A Saint Andrew’s Dinner was born and convened for the first time using the facilities of the Scottish Police College at Tulliallan Castle on 2nd December 2011. The success of the 2011 event, where over £2400 was raised for charity, resulted in the group being formally constituted in 2012 and agreeing on its aims to:
- Celebrate the anniversary of St Andrew;
- Promote and share Scottish traditions;
- Foster friendships; and
- Raise funds for charities.
After ten years, over £70,000 has been raised by the Group.
Sadly, due to the onset of the Coronavirus, our 10th Anniversary Dinner has been cancelled. Instead, we’ve commissioned an exclusive 10yr old, cask strength, Glenfarclas single malt for our members to enjoy and we’re planning an exciting online tasting in November to give 100 of our members a chance to have a dram together, virtually.
As our motto, “Omnia Scotorum’ (All Things Scottish) suggests, the SAFG is open to all who celebrate the culture, traditions and fellowship of Scotland.
