Richard Hutchison BA LLB, which in Airdrie stands for Buy us A Lager and a Large Buckfast, is married to Irene Malcolm, his partner in the legal firm of Malcolm & Hutchison, In Airdrie.
An Airdrie supporter, he also does a fair bit of criminal law and has represented fans of Airdieonians and Airdrie United in courts all over Scotland. Ricky does more Divorce and Family Law, and is a safeguarder, regularly appointed by the courts to look after the interests of children before the courts.
He is Past President of Airdrie & Whifflet Burns Clubs and was voted ‘Scottish Wit of the Year’ in 2000. He remains proud of this award and still used the same jokes for our 2011 dinner.
He plays golf at Drumpellier Golf Club in Coatbridge, where it is recognised that the best wood in his bag, is his pencil!
Ricky’s contribution to our inaugural dinner was of the top order and given his busy calendar we were privileged to have him. His observations, from his personal and professional perspective, on life in Scotland, as well as his storytelling, was funny, informative and memorable.
We are grateful for Ricky’s contribution to our first dinner and his encouragement to members to repeat the event in subsequent years. A compliment indeed from someone as experienced as Ricky at such events.
